This building was worth saving.
Jackson Candle Company is not just where I work. It is part of the neighborhood that raised me.

Five blocks from home.
I grew up five blocks from here. I rode my bike down these alleys and climbed these trees. Years later, I bought a building that needed just about everything, and decided to bring it back.
It was not a quick makeover. The building had to be uncovered piece by piece. Three months went into exposing the brick alone. Floors, walls, windows, displays, work spaces, and countless little details all became part of the process.

What you see today was not handed over finished. It was uncovered, repaired, built, poured, pressed, engraved, rearranged, laughed over, and made into home.
Today, one side of the building is Jackson Candle Company, where people shop, smell everything, blend fragrances, and discover something new. The other side is Jackson Pour House, where people gather around the tables, create candles, celebrate, laugh, and make memories.
Upstairs is home. Downstairs is the business. And all of it is rooted in the same few blocks that have been part of my life since childhood.
I make the candles here. I create many of the gifts here. I host the workshops here. I have used a heat press, a laser engraver, power tools, and a whole lot of determination to shape this place into what it is now.
There are also four cats involved, although their exact job descriptions remain questionable.
This is a candle company, a Pour House, a workshop, a neighborhood shop, and a building that got another chance.
And I am still building it.
Smell everything. Stay awhile.
